Darth Malgus Action Figure

Long time readers will know my favourite action figures are the ones based on video game characters. So when I first heard news last year of a Darth Malgus action figure my anticipation was high and this figure did not disappoint.

For a start its really solidly built, as you can see above, but it also manages to have decent articulation in the arms and legs.

Quite often with highly sought after figures like this I find Hasbro never really expected you to open it, a good example is the Darth Revan figure, looks great but doesn't stand up straight even with the help of a stand. The Darth Malgus however is great, really well balanced, I'm just hoping they bring out some more SWTOR action figures so I can play about taking some fighting photos with this.

While we're on the topic of The Old Republic I thought I'd drop in a little piece about my experiences with the game itself, normally I'd do a post on the game but I've nothing physical in my collection to photograph. I played as a Sith Warrior who I named 'Keteor' as seen above, after listening to the audiobook of Deceived I thought Darth Malgus was the coolest character in the TOR era so wanted to play as something similar.

I did really enjoy the game, especially the cut scenes and dialogue choices, however it's like any MMO, it's designed to keep you playing and working a 45 hour week I honestly didn't feel I could justify paying for it on a monthly basis when I wasn't getting a huge amount of time to play it. I do plan to go back to it at some stage soon as I'd like to finish the Sith Warrior story but I doubt I'd ever finish all eight storylines.

"Duel of the Fates" part II

Continuing on from last week with our re-enactment of 'Duel of the Fates'. We've used the same figures as last week so I'll keep the post brief and just leave you with our photos.

One more post left in this fight so don't forget to check back next week.

Darth Revan Action Figure

Another figure that I've post a couple of times before but again the character is a favourite and I wanted to redo it.

Finally a photo of Revan facing off against the Bastilla Shan figure that recently came out.

300th Blog Post

18 months, 50,000 views and 300 posts on I'm still having a great time creating this blog. Originally I started this as a place to show off my collection but over the last year and a half I've gotten a lot more confident in my work and have really enjoyed recreating scenes from Star Wars, so to say thanks to all the visitors and followers of this site, as I wouldn't have bothered this long without you, I've decided to revisit my top three most viewed posts and try to do these figures a bit more justice.

3 - Galen Marek aka Starkiller

This image is based on the cover art to the first Force Unleashed game. Originally when I posted this figure the image was just Starkiller standing alongside Juno and Kota, you can see it here.

2 - Darth Revan and Darth Malek

Very simple photo here of the apprentice bowing before the master but with the red lighting I thought it was a strong image. My original post of these two can be found here.

1 - Pre Vizsla

This image showing Obi-Wan and Vizsla squaring off is a recreation of a scene from the TCW episode, 'The Mandalore Plot', one of my favourite episodes of the TCW so far and I'm glad to see that other people find the Pre Vizsla figure cool as well. Here you can see the original post, this was one of the first times I attempted to pose figures in a scene and I think you'll agree this blog has come on along way since.

I still have a lot of my collection to share but going forward I hope to have a much bigger emphasis on recreating scenes and other dioramas, thanks again for following and check back soon!

Bastila Shan Action Figure

One of the main characters and members of your party in KOTOR, here's hoping they make more, would be pretty awesome to have the full party.

Mandalore the Ultimate Action Figure

The leader of the Mandalorians is known as the Mandalore, this is Mandalore the Ultimate from the days of the old republic around the time of Exar Kun and Ulic Qel Droma. Mandalore the Ultimate appears in the Tales of the Jedi comics and gets mentioned in the KOTOR games.

With this post I have blogged all my Mandalorian figures as current so I also included an image of all nine figures I've collected.

HK-47 and HK-50 Action Figures

These are two build-a-droid action figures i.e. you have to build the droid by collecting parts that are including with other action figures. On the right is HK-50 which I simply purchased off ebay but on the left is HK-47 and I've spent just over a year collecting the constituent parts of this figure. For those who do not know the significance HK-47 is the personal assassin droid of Darth Revan from the KOTOR games and as big fan of the games and of the character it became a personal mission to acquire this figure.

Darth Revan and Darth Malak Action Figures

Darth Malak on the left and Darth Revan on the right. Almost four thousand years before the Star Wars movies these two ex-jedi ruled the galaxy with Revan as the master and Malak as his apprentice. First appearing in the original Knights of the Old Republic video game they have both had constant references and mentions in other EU sources and provide the inspiration for Darth Bane's 'rule of two'.

May not look like anything spectacular to the untrained eye but the Darth Revan is by far the most expensive single action figure I own due the figure's rarity and the character's popularity, if you don't understand why you need to play the KOTOR games.

Darth Bane Action Figure

Hopefully from the previous post you've gathered I love Darth Bane and if you've been following this blog you've figured out by now that if I love the character I have to have the action figure.

Can't for wait for the paperback release of the third Bane novel, hurry up Del Rey, hurry up!

Ulic Qel Droma and Exar Kun Action Figures

As mentioned when I posted about the Tales of the Jedi comic books, Ulic Qel Droma is on the left and Exar Kun is on the right. That's right kids, long before Darth Maul, Exar Kun had a double bladed lightsaber. Literally just got these action figures this evening and I think they kick ass, Kun's cape is fantastic and the sculpt on Qel Droma's tattered clothes is awesome, looks just like it does in the comics.
