Lego Cad Bane Necklace

Cad Bane is one of my favourite things about The Clone Wars, I've loved every story featuring him and I really hope we get to see a lot more of him in this season.  It's a pity I haven't captured his bright red eyes in this picture, the expression on his face is great.

Behind the Scenes: Replacing a Star Destroyer

Recently a follower asked how we recreate the sets in our Empire Strikes Back project so I figured I'd have some fun doing a 'behind the scenes' post.

You may have already noticed, we have to use more than just action figures as the Hasbro line doesn't/couldn't cover everything, one great example, the Star Destroyer. This is a model I picked up recently knowing it would soon be needed for the project, so now I'm going to show you how we put this model in the movie scene.

We start with a screen grab from the Empire Strikes Back and using photoshop we select the element(s) we want to replace, then we use a tool called 'content aware fill', which this project could not possibly be done without as it does this:

Now that we have the background, we need to photograph our own Star Destroyer.

Hard to tell from this iPhone photo but we put a green image on the TV screen resulting in our own home made green screen:

This makes it very easy to select the star Destroyer and remove the background in photoshop:

We then add this image to the image we created from the movie still:

Now all that's left to do is to apply a bit of photoshop magic and we have our finished image:

Lego Rebel Pilot

Along with Lego Captain Rex, I think this has to be my favourite necklace.  I'm not sure whether it's meant to be a general Rebel pilot or Luke in his X-Wing gear, but I don't think that matters.  Again with previous necklaces we have that fantastic detail on the torso and even the helmet with this Lego figure.

Hondo Ohnaka Action Figure

It's everyone's favourite clone Wars pirate, Hondo. Not a badfigure considering it was a fairly early part of the TCW line.

Lego Darth Vader

This is one of the first few necklaces I collected, but I did not make him myself, I got him from eBay.  Instead of reminding me of the epic Vader we know from the original trilogy he just reminds me of silly Vader from the Lego Star Wars movies.

Darth Talon Action Figure

This Darth Talon action figure came in a comic two-pack with Cade Skywalker (seen below). Great detail but poor articulation.

Lama Su and Taun We Action Figures

I like that I have a couple of Kaminoans to accompany my Clone Trooper collection, both figures came with other stuff, one had the young clone and the other had the cloning jar, just don't ask me which came with which.

This pair however have virtually no articulation so these are the only poses they can do.

To finish this week a fun photo of the life of a clone.

Lego Darth Maul Necklace

I made the hooded Darth Maul necklace first and was thrilled when they brought out the horned Lego figure, but I didn't know what to do with the first necklace I had, but decided on keeping them both.  I'm really loving the Darth Maul and Savage story from Clone Wars season 4 and the first episode of the new season, really looking forward to seeing more from them.
