Rex and Cody Phase 2 Action Figures

Following on from our post in April where I showed off my Phase 1 versions of Rex and Cody, I've since collected the new Phase 2 Clone Wars versions of both.

I'm loving Rex's new look, with the Phase 2 helmet but a Phase 1 visor (essentially the reverse of this guy) plus he's covered in tally marks for all his kills in the war so far. The big question around Rex still remains, will we see him die on the Clone Wars and when?

The Cody figure is nice however it's not quite as cool as the Cody figure that came out alongside ROTS, this one is a good deal skinnier since he's in the Clone Wars style. The figure came with an unusual backpack accessory but unless I see it in some form of canon I'm not interested in displaying him with it.

Here's the two clones with their Jedi commanders, I posted the Anakin when I first got it but I don't think I've shown off this Obi-wan yet, will some him in a few more photos soon.

Finally a couple of fun photos of each clone, Rex above with a couple of 501st troopers lit to look like Umbara, below Cody and one of his troopers blasting a Commando Droid.

Lego Bossk Necklace

Like Boba, Bossk doesn't get a lot of screen time, but I still think he's awesome!  It was great seeing more of his back story in the Clone Wars and his relationship with Boba, I'd like to see more of him in the next season.  I just love the fantastic detail on Bossk's jumpsuit on this Lego figure.

Probe Droid's Arrival

I've come up with a new way of doing these movie scene shoots because I felt they were too similar to the weekly action figure posts and it was making the blog look messy. With the power of photoshop I've removed the probe droid from these stills and replaced it with a photograph of my probe droid action figure.

I'm pleased with the result and am planning to do a whole lot more in this vain so if you're a regular visitor I'd value any feed back. We've also now removed the indexes from this site as it's too big a job to maintain, however if you want galleries you can find all our movie re-enactments going forward on our facebook page at www.facebook.com/kishometeora.

Wat Tambor Action Figure

A gift from Shannen, this fairly hard to find figure of Wat Tambor, a character I've been after for a long time.

It might not be the best figure every made, very limited articulation, but the important point is his hand reaches his tuning dial thing that makes the awesome sound effect in AOTC so I'm happy.

Lego Captain Rex Alarm

This was a birthday gift from my friend's parents, who obviously know me very well.  Usually I hate the sound of alarms, I prefer to wake up to music, but for Star Wars I'm willing to give it a go!  

He's a large scale, fully pose-able lego man and looks great out of the box after attaching his antenna.  The buttons for setting the time and alarm are on the back and very easy to operate.

His head acts as a button for activating snooze and the light of the clock face.

To demonstrate just how large-scale he is, we've compared him with my very own Lego Captain Rex necklace.

Filmed last weekend after installing the new LED strips, I've lost count but its over 450 figures in the collection now.

Display Upgrade part 4

Four weeks later it's finally done and we're pretty damn pleased with the result. Was an exhausting weekend taking this all down and putting it back up again but who I am to complain about a weekend spent playing with my Star Wars toys.

Once all the figures were down and shoved into every other inch space  in the room we started installing the LEDs, which went smoother than I expected even if it did take a couple of hours.

As part of the new light system we have two strips that run at the front of the display, for these we glued on a piece of trim so as to tilt the light back into the figures.

Here's a view of the back of the display showing the array of wiring that had to be done. It's pretty perilous back there when the shelves are moved away from the wall.

At first not all the LEDs lit up but with them all being in parallel it was quick to spot the broken connection and make the repair.

Here it is then, the completed display upgrade. As well as the lights we've added a new shelf along the top, black backing around now most of the display plus two new book cases to both help hold the weight of the figures but also to keep my ever growing Expanded Universe collection.

This is a photo of my switch, which works a treat. There's a slight delay from the old lights coming on until the   transformer 'warms up' for the new LEDs which creates a nice effect when you click the switch. To wrap up this series of posts I'll leave with some gratuitous photos of my collection.

Ps. While setting up the display again we filmed a new time lapse/stop capture video of the setup, I'm still editing it together but look for it in the next week.

Queen Amidala Action Figure

Another figure from the stash I picked up at Invasion Dublin. Not the most articulated figure but then the character doesn't do a whole lot of moving around in this costume.

And of course the customary shot of the politician in the senate pod, skulking in the background is an Episode 1 Palpatine, also picked up at Invasion.

Display Upgrade part 3

We've had a very productive week getting this crazy network of wires and LEDs soldered together. Above is an example of one of several junctions we have to feed power to all the different LED strips spread across the display. This was my second attempt, my first set of wires combined parallel and serial connections, thankfully I got wise to my error early on.

Next is some of the LED strips that have been soldered to their wires, for this I had to ask Shannen to take over as her hand is a lot steadier than mine, she did a far neater job than I could have and did it in a lot less time than it would have taken me.

We then soldered the wires coming from the LEDs to the connectors from the junctions I'd already made, above you can see an example one section of the circuit and below is a couple of photos of the completed piece.

It was a big relief to see all the LEDs turn on at once the first time as neither us have really done anything like this before. It's not that easy to photograph lights but they do give off an amazing amount of light for their size.

All that's left now is to install them in the display so check back next week for some photos of the finished project.

Same Qui-gon and Watto figures I've shown before, however I've picked up the 'Tatooine Accessory Kit' which came out along side the original TPM  action figures, included is the Qui-gon poncho.

The Watto figure I've only posted once before but is one my favourites, I think it has easily one of the best sculpts and paint jobs of any Star Wars figure.
